SLUG CATCHERS
A Slug catcher catches large and fast incoming volumes of liquid and is designed to reduce turbulence or act as a volume buffer to downstream equipment.Slug catchers are very often seen at the inlet of a large central gathering station where 1 or more lines are entering for processing. A Slug Catcher can also be called an inlet Settling Tank. A slug catcher brings consistency in operations downstream of it's stage, as all wells do not flow at constant steady pressure and volume, the slug catcher "catches" all the different frequencies and sends the liquid to the next piece of equipment in a consistent and steady manner. Therefore, easing the load on the next processing unit.
