VAPOR RECOVERY TOWERS
Vapor recovery is the last stage in pressure stage separation and is technically the last attempt to capture any high-end hydrocarbon flashing in the process train. Vapor recovery can still occur in tank storage with a Vapor Recovery Unit. Placement of a Vapor Recovery Tower(VRT's) is after Crude Treating and before Tank storage. Vapor Recovery Towers are also known as VRT's, Lo-Pressure Towers, Flash Towers. Vapor recovery in both forms prevents vapor release from the tank thief hatches and a hefty fine from the Environmental Regulatory Agencies such as the Railroad Commission or EPA.
