Vapor recovery Units is the final and last attempt to capture any high-end hydrocarbon flashing in the Storage Stage. Vapor Recovery Units(VRU's) can take vapors from a VRT or from the Tank Vapor Vent piping system. The Vapor Recovery Units are sometimes called, Flash compressors, Vapor compressors. Vapor recovery in both forms prevents vapor release from the tank thief hatches and a hefty fine from the Environmental Regulatory Agencies such as the Railroad Commission or EPA. Also reduces the amount of hydrocarbon burn at the vapor flare, and can turn typical waste gas into a sellable gas.
